The circumstances surrounding the birth of my son were unlike any other time. It was a period of incredible intensity and remarkable adaptation, filled with uncertainty and immense emotional insecurity, during which I felt completely unprepared and vulnerable for the journey ahead.

The basic guidelines and checklists on how to be the perfect mother were both tempting and alluring, yet as a woman, I couldn’t have strayed further from “perfection.”

The first two years of my son’s life were a blend of difficult emotions: isolation and loneliness, overwhelming fatigue from trying to hold everything together, and confusion and shame when it became clear that I was not succeeding.

This was the time when BUMI was born. It was an invitation to look beyond the idea of the perfect mother and start seeing the woman.

It was an invitation to embark on a journey of genuine connection, without the guidelines of perfection, but with a true wild desire to feel free as a mother—from a place of connection to myself, to this planet, to my partner, and to my community. And of course, to my wild son.

From this place of connection, I found true freedom.

BUMI is a celebration of the freedom we feel when we are truly ourselves. It is a celebration of creating connections from the most essential places within us.
